M12 5-Pin Connector Questions

Practical answers for product selection, wiring confirmation and custom cable projects.

Is “M12 5-pin connector” enough information for a quotation?
It is enough for an initial review, but not always enough for final product confirmation. We normally also check the coding, male or female interface, straight or angled structure, cable or mounting type, pinout, cable specification and required quantity.
What is the difference between 5-pin A-coded and B-coded connectors?
A-coded 5-pin connectors are commonly used for sensors, actuators and general industrial signals. B-coded versions are associated with certain fieldbus applications. Their keyways are different, so the coding must follow the equipment interface rather than the pin count alone.
Can two 5-pin connectors have different wiring?
Yes. The same coding and pin count do not guarantee the same electrical assignment. For custom cable assemblies, the pin-to-wire or pin-to-pin definition should follow the equipment drawing or device datasheet.
Can you identify the connector from a photo?
A clear front-view photo can often help identify the likely coding, pin count and gender. A side photo helps confirm the body and mounting structure. Final wiring, electrical ratings and panel dimensions may still require a drawing, datasheet or existing sample.
Can you make custom cable lengths and open-wire tails?
Custom cable length, PVC or PUR cable, shielded or unshielded construction, open-wire tails, ferrules, terminals and second-end connectors can be reviewed according to the project requirement.
Are all M12 5-pin connectors IP67 or IP68?
No single protection rating applies to every model. The final rating depends on the selected connector, sealing design, cable entry, assembly and properly mated condition. Confirm the required protection level together with the exact product structure.
Can your connector replace an existing brand?
Do not confirm replacement from the M12 thread or pin count alone. Coding, keyway, contact layout, mounting dimensions, electrical rating and pin assignment should be compared with the existing product drawing or sample.
Can I request a sample before volume production?
Sample availability, sample charge and production timing are confirmed after the product specification is reviewed. For custom wiring or equipment replacement projects, sample testing is recommended before volume production.
